Bio/Description
Prof. Carey's work focuses on the US health care industry. Her primary line of research examines government-managed markets for health insurance. A second line is focused on physician behavior, such as the role of financial relationships with drug firms or physician's response to demand shocks and price changes. She has written a number of papers examining the role of physicians in the US opioid epidemic. She was previously a staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers. Prof. Carey is visiting from Cornell University, where she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics.
