Postdoctoral Research Associates

The Center for Health and Wellbeing (CHW), part of the Woodrow Wilson School, invites outstanding researchers to apply for appointments as Postdoctoral Research Associates for a 12-month position starting July 1, 2020. The position would involve working on a CHW project headed by Janet Currie entitled: "Harnessing Big Data to Improve Children's Mental Health Treatment."

Postdoctoral Research Associates participate in activities of CHW, including faculty-graduate seminars, workshops, and public lectures, and enjoy access to a wide range of other activities throughout the University. Postdoctoral Research Associates devote the major portion of their time to research and writing on issues related to health and wellbeing. Some Postdoctoral Research Associates may be invited to teach in one of Princeton's undergraduate programs. Any teaching is contingent on sufficient enrollments and must be approved by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty.

Applicants should have received a doctorate degree within three years of application or expect to receive a doctorate by July 1 2020. The program is open to all regardless of citizenship, but it does not support work toward the completion of a degree. The term of the appointment is one year initially, starting July 1, 2020, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of three years total appointment time contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. The selected candidate is expected to be in residence during the term of appointment.

Postdoctoral Research Associates are defined as scholars who obtained their degrees within the past three years, and who will not be employed by another institution during their stay at Princeton. Applicants employed at other institutions who wish to visit should consult the CHW advertisement for Visiting Research Scholars. Those who are not employed at other institutions but who received their advanced degree more than three years ago should consult the CHW advertisement for Associate Research Scholars. A PhD in economics is required, and experience with the econometric analysis of large scale administrative data sets.

Applicants are evaluated on the basis of (1) the quality of their achievements in their field of specialization and their ability to benefit from the activities of CHW; (2) the fit between their interests and the project; and (3) the contribution they are likely to make to research in the future.
