Jan. 3, 2025

An article by CHW affiliate Alyssa Sharkey, a lecturer at Princeton's School of Public and International Affairs, and co-author Mustafa Basij Rasikh was named among Think Global Health's “Best of 2024 Global Health Stories." The online publication, an initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations, examines the ways in which changes in health are reshaping economies, societies, and the everyday lives of people around the globe.

In their article, Sharkey and Rasikh explore the far-reaching consequences of the Taliban's ban on women's medical education. Specifically, they highlight how the ban has prevented female talent from entering Afghanistan's under-resourced health care sector.
