New research suggests that blood samples from polar bears more frequently show antibodies to viruses, bacteria and parasites. CHW affiliate Andy Dobson, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at Princeton, says the study is interesting but inconclusive, since the samples were taken from two different geographic locations within the population’s domain.
